The Judgement Paradox

When AI Does the Work, How Do People Develop the Wisdom?

Date Tuesday, December 8, 2026
Location Rideau Club, Ottawa
Breakfast and networking 8:30–9:00 a.m.
Interactive event 9:00–10:30 a.m.

AI is helping people produce sophisticated work faster than ever. But some of the experiences that traditionally develop professional judgement are changing. If employees can deliver the output without engaging in the thinking that once produced it, how will they develop the wisdom to make sound decisions when it matters most?

That is the judgement paradox. AI can improve productivity and expand what people are able to accomplish. At the same time, it challenges organizations to rethink how people learn to weigh alternatives, navigate uncertainty, question assumptions and make decisions they can stand behind.

Join the conversation

Join Canadian Management Centre at Ottawa’s Rideau Club for an interactive breakfast event that explores this emerging challenge for leaders and talent development. Drawing on research, real-world client perspectives, practical activities and facilitated table-group conversations, we’ll consider how organizations can develop professional judgement as AI transforms work.

This is an opportunity to move beyond the usual discussion of AI tools and efficiency, exchange ideas with peers and explore what meaningful development could look like in your organization.

At this event, you will:

  • Explore the gap between producing sophisticated work and developing the judgement to make sound decisions.
  • Examine how AI is changing the experiences through which employees build expertise.
  • Exchange perspectives with other leaders on how organizations can develop judgement when traditional learning pathways are changing.
  • Identify opportunities to rethink developmental experiences and strengthen judgement within your own organization.

Who should attend

HR, talent, learning and development, organizational development and senior leaders responsible for building the capabilities their organizations will need next.
