Be your most productive self with this course based on the teachings of FranklinCovey’s 5 Choices to Extraordinary Productivity.

The Extraordinary Productivity: The 5 Choices That Drive Success course is based on ideas and practices accumulated over decades from the leaders of productivity. This FranklinCovey seminar provided by AMA will help you develop the necessary tools to maximize productivity in the workplace.  For most of us, the demands our careers sometimes place on our shoulders can be overwhelming. Combine this with the distractions caused by an unending influx of information, and our lives can become downright exhausting. If we don’t react to these stimuli with clear discernment, our ability to think clearly and make wise decisions about what’s important suffers—and the goals that matter most in our professional and personal lives get shortchanged, or worse, not accomplished at all.

This productivity seminar combines current neuroscience research with proven productivity principles to help you better manage your decisions, attention, and energy. You’ll learn how to apply a process—which incorporates the use of Microsoft Outlook®—to dramatically increase your ability to achieve life’s most important outcomes by consistently making choices that create extraordinary value for yourself and your organization. This solution not only produces a measurable increase in productivity but can also provide you with a renewed sense of engagement and accomplishment.

Overall, I really enjoyed the course. The subject matter was extremely relevant to me, and I feel like I will be able to implement many of the tips I learned during the class. I have only two items of constructive criticism: 1) I would prefer to have more frequent short breaks instead of fewer longer breaks. In my session, we had two-hour blocks of learning followed by one-hour breaks. I would prefer to have one-hour segments followed by shorter (15-minute?) breaks and a slightly shorter lunch (30 minutes?). 2) During the class we were asked to respond to questions from the instructor. Most of the students chose to type their responses (as did I), and our instructor read them out loud to us. This construct was fine, but I would recommend that the instructor wait a minute or so before starting to read the comments out loud. I have a really hard time typing when someone is speaking. I don't want to miss the conversation, but I can't concentrate on what I'm typing and listen at the same time. Just having an extra 30 or 60 seconds to type without distraction would have helped me respond more quickly. As it was, I kept typing what I was hearing instead of what I was thinking, and I had to rewrite my responses repeatedly.
